LIVE RECORDING!
Livewire offers the chance for you to record your show onto a digital multi track recorder. All the equipment is mobile, so we come to you, whether you are performing just to record, or you actually want a live show recorded. This can be done seperately, or whilst hiring a PA system.
The idea is that you duplicate the CDs and sell them. This way you are;
1. Promoting your cause by selling CDs, whether it be a band or school etc.
2. Covering the cost of the recording.
3. Making a profit, which could fund a tour, go into school funds, or make money for charity.
It seems silly not to do it!
Once it has been recorded onto the multitrack recorder, it has to be remixed to produce a stereo master. This can be done in a number of ways;
1. I do it; I remix it, and then send you a first mix. You tell me what changes you want and then I send you the final mix. If you are happy, you can have them reproduced as many times as you like.
2. We both do it; You hire a studio, (London Road Studios in Bath for example) and myself as an engineer so you have a say in how you want it to sound, all the way along.
3. You do it; I just give you the multitrack tape for you or another engineer to remix.
The Multitrack recorder used is a Tascam DA-88. The Alesis ADAT recorder may also available if required. Both these machines are capable of recording up to 8 tracks each. To have more tracks, it is simply a matter of hiring another machine, buying another tape and linking them together.
The Tascam DA-88 can record up to 114mins on a single tape. The Alesis ADAT can record up to 44 mins on a single tape and a CD has a maximum play length of 74 mins.
Prices;
Prices vary according to the job, but here is a ROUGH GUIDE;
| 1. Recording a concert whilst hiring Livewire to do the PA. (one band to be recorded onto 8 tracks.) | Hire of PA + £150 |
| 2. Recording a concert with no PA (8 tracks) | £300 |
| 3. Recording a concert with no PA (16 tracks) | £400 |
| 4. Recording a concert with no PA (8 tracks) and then receiving a master CD. | £550 |
| 5. Recording a concert with no PA (8 tracks), receiving a master CD and having 1000 copies. | £1400 (that's just £1.40 per CD!!) |
| 6. Recording a concert with no PA (16 tracks), receiving a master CD and having 1000 copies. | £1600 (that's just
