The Brazil trip

from Baka Beyond
asked me if I could come with his band, as a Sound Engineer to São
Paulo in Brazil for 6 days. I had been asked to go to a few places with
bands before, but was unable to because I have a 9 year old son. But
because this was for only 6 days, I was able to go! It was really great,
we were treated like royalty; Our own hotel rooms and everything! It was
the first time I had been out of the country since I was 17.(twelve
years!) What made it great, apart from the incredible hospitality was
the people in the band. There were three Africans who were always in
high spirits, and singing and dancing all over the place. Also the sound
equipment I got to use was 'the business!' I had a 56 channel
"Amek recall" mixing desk,
(recall; it has a computer attatched to it which takes a snapshot of all
the knobs and sliders, and "remembers" where they were!) and
shed loads of other stuff, all looking brand new. The place they played
was the
Teatro
SESC Vila Mariana and it was for the Festival Música
Mundial (World music festival). I just chucked a few piccies in for you
to check out. There's some more pictures of the shows on the
Baka Beyond web
page. They have even got a video stream of a song when they played there! One for a 28k Modem, and one for a 56k Modem. |
