ANGELA BROWN
Blues Diva
|
Angela Brown sings Gospel and Blues Ballads with the same perfection as she does when she sings raw or swing Blues songs. She has a Gospel and school choir background and grew up around the Blues in her home town of Chicago. Angela did not sing the Blues until the 1980's when she performed in a critically praised musical as Bessie Smith. After the musical Angela began to play clubs in Chicago often accompanied by Little Brother Montgomery and soon gained the title "Bessie Smith of the 80's" She has also been likened to Dinah Washington and Nina Simone. Angela first visited Europe in 1982 with The Chicago All Star Band. She has lived in Germany and released her first album in 1987 "The Voice Of Blues" there on the Schubert label. Angela is bringing with her the renowned British band "The Mighty 45's". This is a band that plays Chicago Blues, Texas Blues just as well as Funk, Jazz or Rock. Together with Angela's unbelievably soulful voice and stage presence you can expect a hot meeting with "The Hot Lady" and the Mighty 45's. |

| I was working at the Gloucester Blues Festival,
doing the PA, when Angela Brown made her debut in the UK. An incredible
personality, she constantly had a crowd of people around her. On stage,
her presence and powerful vocals were awesome. It left me and the whole
audience thinking "Wow!, I love Angela Brown!" Mark Burton. |
